Got Questions? We’ve Got You.
Whether you’re brand new to Queer City Sports or a returning player gearing up for another season, we’re here to make sure you have all the info you need to jump in and play with confidence.
Below you’ll find answers to our most common questions about registration, leagues, teams, schedules, and what makes QCS such a special community to be part of.
If you don’t see your question here, no worries — reach out anytime! Our team is always happy to help you find your place on (and off) the field.
Who should play?
If you want to have fun, meet other awesome humans and get active, join us! Everyone is welcome regardless of your sexuality, gender, age, or athletic ability. We believe in inclusivity, not exclusivity.
How do I register?
For most leagues and tournaments, when you register, you have three choices:
Free Agent - You want to play, but don't currently have a team? Free Agent means you are a solo player, and we will randomly assign you to a team. Joining our league as a free agent is the best way to make friends in Baltimore!
Small Group - Small Group means you have a few friends who want to play together but not quite enough for a full team. We will merge your group with other small groups or free agents to form a team.
Captain - You want to build your own team of players and lead them to victory!
Team Player - You know what team you are supposed to be on and want to directly register for that team.
Some of our leagues and tournaments will only have a free agent option. This is to promote the social side of QCS and get you mingling with new teammates!
Where do I register?
Every city has its own registration page. Mouse over Choose Your City, then select your city to view upcoming leagues. Be sure to like your city’s Queer City Sports Insta and/or Facebook page so you don’t miss out on any league or tournament announcements.
How much does it cost?
Every league and tournament has a different price point. We strive to keep costs as low as possible while providing a high quality fun filled experience for our players. We are firm believers that play is pivotal to our physical and emotional wellbeing and everyone regardless of ability to pay should be able to play. If you find the cost prohibitive please do not hesitate to message us.
What is the refund policy?
Queer City Sports will provide a full refund any time up until two weeks before the final registration date. Example: If registration ends on June 1st, the last day to receive a full refund is May 18th.
If a request for refund is received within 2 weeks of the season registration ending, a player may receive a credit towards future Queer City Sports activities. Example: If registration ends on June 1st, any requests received between May 19th and June 1st will receive a Queer City Sports site credit.
After the end of registration, Queer City Sports will not be able to offer any refunds or credits. Example: If registration ends on June 1st, any requests received on June 1st or later will not be eligible for a refund or a credit.
I am registered! What happens now?
Awesome, welcome to the fun!
- After registration closes we get to work creating teams. Free agents and small groups will be merged to form full teams.
 - We will send out a welcome email with the league or tournament details 7-10 days prior to kickoff.
 - Once you receive the welcome email, teams are set. Get that team chat going and get pumped for opening day! You can log in to your dashboard to message your team. Decide on a team name, nominate a captain and co-captain, and most importantly, make sure that everyone is in for the post-game hang!
 - Check your schedule. You can access the schedule and standings from the league page.
 - Review the rules.
 - Bringing the right attitude guarantees a great time for everyone! You can wow us with your athletic prowess, but always remember that we are here to have fun, build community, and make friends. Please play within your ability and don't take games too seriously.

When are games played?
Typical games run between 30 minutes-to-1 hour, on the designated league day/ timeframe weekly (Note: Playoff Tournament times are subject to change). Game times will rotate each week within the assigned timeframe, and your team may play a double-header or have a bye on a given week.
Note: the Schedule will be sent out at least 7 days before the league start date.
How do I receive my team shirt?
Each league typically hosts a Kick-Off Party prior to the season start, where players can pick up their team t-shirt and connect socially with other participants & teams.
Note: If you cannot attend the Kick-Off party, your team t-shirt will be given to you at the first game by your League Host.
What do I wear?
Top - You will receive a QCS shirt with most leagues and tournaments. We are all about celebrating uniqueness. Feel free to slice, dice, or bedazzle your shirt, as long as you don’t obscure the logos, anything goes!
Bottom - Pants or shorts, or a skirt that you can move freely in
Shoes - Athletic shoes are recommended for all sports.
What happens in inclement weather?
We try our best to play scheduled games, and games will be played in the rain or other inclement weather. We will make a decision at least 60 minutes before game time.. Sometimes game cancellations are out of our control, as some locations use City fields and the City has the final decision on field closure.
If games are cancelled due to weather, participants will be notified via email and text. Make sure you have opted in to text notifications. You can opt in here.
Note: Canceled games may or may not be rescheduled depending on a number of factors. This information will be communicated to team captains and players by the League Host.
